I simply wanted to see what ports where open outside of a server of mine. To do this its as simple as installing nmap and running a single command.

To install nmap on MacOS I ran:
brew install nmap
On Ubuntu (my favorite Linux Distro) install by running:
apt-get install nmap

For more ways to install you can checkout their documention here.

To scan an ip/server for open ports simply run:
sudo nmap -sT -p- {IP ADDRESS}

Exact command I ran with output:

> sudo nmap -sT -p-
